Octane and DLR Shoot – Eiger Studios

March 24, 2011 § Leave a comment

This week I was commissioned by Leeds-based drum and bass duo Octane and DLR to take some shots of their new studio space, Eiger Studios.

This is just a sneak preview of what we came up with, the majority of the images were taken on colour film and have yet to be developped. We wanted to go for a more artistic approach to documenting the studio space, trying to avoid the very sterile, flat images that you often see for these kinds of advertising purposes. I took a lot of detail shots of the studio equipment, trying to photograph the space in a way that would capture a better sense of the studio atmosphere. Much of the equipment they use here is analogue, so it seemed fitting to portray this through another authentic medium; film photography.

UPDATE:

Finally, here are a few of the images that have been developped and scanned in from the colour film that I shot at the studio. I am relieved that they all came out and hopefully they will be pleased with the images – I particularly like the first shot, it is a good example of the artistic style we were going for.
