This morning I was intrigued to find an email from a member of Pierre Garroudi’s team enclosing this invite and text, publicising a guerilla-style fashion show that is to take place in Central London on Thursday 21st April.
“I am writing on behalf of Pierre Garroudi. We would like to inform you that on the 21st of April Pierre Garroudi is organising a flash mob Haute- Couture fashion show entitled “Pierre Garroudi is taking over London”.
The fashion show will be a big-scale event, part of a guerrilla campaign. Twenty models will present Pierre Garroudi’s red collection. The programme of the event will also include dancers. The event crew amounts up to 50 members. The main object of the event is to create awareness, attract public attention and to democratize the fashion industry. The impact is anticipated to be immense. The itinerary of the fashion show covers the area of London Bridge about 4:00pm, and then, Charing Cross Station and Trafalgar Square. The main catwalk show will take place at Trafalgar Square from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.”
As you may know I recently came across this fascinating couture designer whilst working at Oxford Fashion Week and I cannot praise his work enough. The chance to view his designs in the flesh once again is an exciting prospect, made even more tempting by the avant-garde presentation, which is in perfect keeping with the work of a designer who boasts such an innovative fashion flare.
I am in complete awe of him, not only as a designer but as an innovator- this show provides a real chance to display couture to the masses, removing the barriers of fashion hierarchy and placing focus back on the beauty and technical skill.
If you are in London this Thursday afternoon and have a taste for fashion extravaganzas or are simply looking for an excuse to make the most of the sunshine then I urge you to make a trip to the mentioned locations, as I am sure it is going to be an unforgettable show.
